6 Reasons You Should Be Using Etsyrank for your Etsy Vintage Business

I take my recommendations VERY seriously…and I try a lot of things that I don’t find very useful…allll the things LOL!

That said, if you haven’t yet checked out EtsyRank…you definitely should!  Anthony Wolf, the owner, shares my philosophy to use ONLY verified information {usually straight from Etsy} when it comes to Etsy SEO.

Spend the time doing the RIGHT things and don’t waste your time doing the WRONG things!

Did I mention there are so many awesome free features?  Everything in this article can be accessed in the EtsyRank FREE account!  How freakin cool is that?  And there’s no teasing with being able to see a little bit of what you can get if you just pay X, either!

Here are 6 reasons you should be using EtsyRank for FREE to help your Etsy vintage business!

{ONE} Spelling issues

Location: Dashboard

Once you sign up for a free account, on your Dashboard you will see several really helpful metrics.  One of those, is the Spelling Issues metric.

Now, some things are going to show up here that aren’t really spelling issues…like brand names, for instance.  You can select to ignore those…but the real spelling issues…you are going to want to fix those puppies ASAP!

It’s important to your brand to be professional.  Spelling and grammar errors are not only NOT professional, they can make you look untrustworthy.

Spelling errors can literally make someone NOT BUY your items!  I could site sources, but instead just go Google “why spelling errors affect your business” and see for yourself!

Do you need any more convincing LOL?  Get in there and fix your spelling errors…EtsyRank makes it super simple!

You can even check in different languages: English, French, Spanish, German, and Italian!

{TWO} missing tags

Location: Dashboard

Another awesome metric, is Missing Tags!

As you probably know, Etsy gives you 13 tags to use for each listing.  Use them!  It’s literally like giving away a search result to another seller without even trying if you don’t…I know you don’t want to do that ;)!

Click on the Missing Tags metric and repair any broken listings immediately :)!

Here are some helpful things to remember about tags:

  • Each tag can be up to 20 characters long
  • Tags are your opportunity to describe as many different search queries as possible
  • Use “multi-word phrases” that your customers would search for
  • Always think – what words and phrases would my buyers be searching for?

Read on for more ways to identify tags…

{THREE} compare listings

Location: Shop > Compare Listings

I love this feature!  It allows you to put in up to three listings and compare them side by side.

You need the listing ID of up to three listings to compare to get started.  EtsyRank has a great diagram at the top of this feature showing exactly where you will find that number in the item listing URL, so don’t worry…it’s easy!

Curious about how many views your competition’s listing is getting compared to yours?  Worry no more…you can see that here!

You can also see at a glance, how many hearts that “other listing” is getting, and what their stock is looking like compared to yours in “quantity available”.

Perhaps the best part of this feature…you can see what tags your competitors are using at a glance which can give you some ideas for either changing up your listing tags or ideas for future listings you may not have thought of.

{FOUR} keyword tool

Location: Tools > Keyword Tool

The Keyword Tool is pretty cool…see what I did there? LOL

You can plop in any keyword that you use or are thinking about using and get all kinds of spiffy data back.

You can see how much competition your key word has, how much demand there is for it, and how much engagement the key word gets.  These are all indicators that can help you make a determination if the key word is a good choice or if maybe you should try something else.

Don’t get too discouraged if the results of one of your favorite key words looks glum.  Even if something has low demand or low engagement, it can still do well if you have your niche figured out and are drawing in the right shoppers!

Scroll down just a bit and before your very eyes, like some kind of magic, you will see it…the beautiful collage of key words.  If you EVER get stuck on what key words to include in your titles, tags and description…this is a great place to visit!

Just remember, your first key word has to be relevant in order for other GOOD keywords to output in this section!

{FIVE} profit calculator

Location: Tools > Profit Calculator

This is a MUST HAVE tool because if you aren’t taking profits into account, you are doing it wrong ;).

There’s no time like the present…

You can plug all your numbers in and this tool will tell you your profit amount and your profit margin percent.

Oh ya + it has all the Etsy fees built in…including the recent changes!

AND it has a new place to put coupons…holla!

What does this tool NOT have!?

What’s a good profit margin to have? suggests most retailers maintain a 50% margin.  So if something cost $1, you should sell it for $2.  Other sources say most small business aim to be between a 25-35% profit margin.  Target…ya know, the big box store…keeps a 43% profit margin.

Whatever you choose is best for your business, higher profit margins should always be your goal and you should be raising prices to account for higher expenses.

{Six} your etsy rank

Location: Top Sellers

This one is kinda for fun, because who doesn’t want to know how they “rank”?!

Grab your favorite drink, type in your name and enjoy the results!

At the bottom, if you see you rank higher than 90% of other Etsy sellers…it means you are in the top 10% of your category.  It shows your category {based on your shop’s 100 most recently updated listings} as well, in case you were wondering!

Rank not so great?  That’s OK- I KNOW you are going to rank up soon because you are doing the things that serious sellers do…taking ACTION!  You’ve got this and you will be climbing those ranks soon!

While you are there, you can see other helpful things like your average sales per day.  Keep in mind this is from the beginning of you opening shop…so if you make many sales a day now but only made one a week a few years back, it’s going to average that all out!

Pssst…you can also peek at your competitors…it’s HEALTHY to be nosey in this case peeps!

what’s next?

Go try it yourself here..tell ’em I sent ya {Just kidding, I’m not getting paid to say any of this, promise LOL}!
